From a Seat of Disability to the Playground of Life
Hamad Mes’ad Hamad Al-Shaddadi was born in 2016 in the governorate of Marib—a child whose arrival filled his home with light and boundless joy. Surrounded by affection and care, his family dreamed of a childhood filled with running, laughter, and a future worthy of his innocence and lively heart.
But Hamad’s path was not an easy one. A simple intramuscular injection, meant to help him, caused direct damage to a motor nerve, leaving his left leg almost without movement. His struggle began early; he could not stand firmly, nor run like other children his age, nor chase his laughter across the playground. With time, the injury grew heavier on his small body and on the hearts of his parents, who watched their son’s childhood slipping away.
Yet his family never surrendered. Holding on to hope, they turned to the Prosthetics and Rehabilitation Center, supported by the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre. There, a specialized medical team received Hamad’s case with careful attention and designed an intensive rehabilitation program to awaken and strengthen his affected muscles.
Days of therapy, continuous training, and a child’s heart that refused to give up. Slowly, his leg began to respond. Pain turned to movement… small steps became bigger ones… until the day his family had long waited for finally came: Hamad stood on his own—and walked.
His first steps brought life back to his laughter, a sparkle to his eyes, and comfort to the hearts that had prayed for this moment.
Today, Hamad is living his childhood once again. He plays, runs, and shares joyful moments with his friends—after walking was once just a distant wish. His journey is not merely a medical story; it is a reminder that with proper care, compassion, and unwavering will, a whole childhood can be saved from pain and loss.
A story that proves goodness can breathe life back into every step that lost its path.
