Noor’s Reborn Hope

Details

The pains of losing a child are immeasurable; something Noor found no words to express when only at the age of 20 she lost her first born in Socotra, Yemen. At the time, Nawjad, the nearby health care center was not functioning, and Noor carrying her child had to take the long walk from her village to the capital, a walk that ended in heartbreak when the doctors informed her that it was too late to save her child.

Today, Noor is able to find the strength to express joy and gratitude after the birth of her second child who was conceived in the now operating Nawjad health care center “Thank you for saving my baby. I am grateful for you all” says Noor.

In Socotra Governorate, KSrelief and UNFPA are supporting two health facilities, Nawjad Health Centre and Kalansnia Rural Hospital to provide comprehensive reproductive health services to women and girls throughout the governorate. Prior to this support, women and girls in Socotra did not have access to reproductive health services. In addition, KSrelief is supporting the provision of reproductive health services in 15 health facilities across Yemen, which will help reach more than 150,000 women and girls with reproductive health services.
