Prime Minister of Yemen Visits KSrelief Headquarters in Riyadh

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: The Prime Minister of Yemen, Dr. Ahmad Awad bin Mubarak, and his accompanying delegation visited the headquarters of KSrelief in Riyadh. During the visit, the Yemeni Prime Minister met with KSrelief's Supervisor General, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah.

 

The discussions focused on enhancing the Kingdom's relief and humanitarian efforts through KSrelief to support families in need in Yemen. Dr. Al Rabeeah reaffirmed KSrelief's commitment to alleviating the suffering of those displaced and affected in Yemen. He emphasized that these efforts reflect the Kingdom's noble humanitarian mission, led by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud.

 

The Yemeni Prime Minister was provided with a detailed overview of the humanitarian aid provided by the Kingdom from 1996 to 2024, which has reached 171 countries with a total expenditure of 132 billion US dollars. Of this amount, 27 billion dollars has been allocated specifically for the Yemeni people. Notably, in 2014, the official development assistance from the Kingdom's gross domestic product reached 1.9 percent, surpassing the United Nations' prescribed threshold of 0.70 percent.

 

The review also included over 3,068 projects across 102 countries valued at more than 7 billion US dollars. In Yemen alone, 976 humanitarian projects have been initiated, totaling over 4 billion dollars. These projects span various vital sectors, with 479 dedicated to women and 478 to children. Specialized initiatives highlighted included the rehabilitation of Yemeni child soldiers, the "MASAM" project for demining in Yemen, and a prosthetics program.

 

Additionally, the Saudi program for separating conjoined twins, which has gained international recognition, was discussed. Since its inception in 1990, the program has successfully performed 61 surgeries and conducted medical evaluations for 142 cases from 26 countries, including Yemen. The Kingdom has also been notably welcoming to refugees, hosting approximately 1,093,000 refugees, which constitutes about 5.26 percent of its population. Among these are 561,911 refugees from Yemen, 262,573 from Syria, and 269,442 from Myanmar.

 

In conclusion, the Yemeni Prime Minister expressed his admiration for KSrelief's significant efforts and its critical role in supporting those in need globally. He extended his heartfelt gratitude to the Kingdom, its government, and its people for the humanitarian, relief, and charitable assistance extended to Yemen, highlighting the deep familial ties that connect the two nations.
