KSrelief’s MASAM Teams Continue to Deactivate Explosive Devices in Yemen

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the second week of September 2020, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,500 explosive devices, including 11 antipersonnel mines, 234 anti-vehicle mines, 22 improvised explosive devices and 1,233 pieces of unexploded ordnance. Since the project began in June 2018, MASAM teams have deactivated a total of 185,081 Houthi militia-planted devices. 

Militia groups have deployed more than a million explosive devices in populated areas throughout Yemen during the ongoing conflict there. These devices have killed and wounded many innocent civilians and remain a serious threat to the safety and security of Yemen.
