Saudi Arabia Participates in 7th Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria

NEW YORK, UNITED STATES: Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), recently participated in the 7th Replenishment Conference of the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria. The conference was attended by the President of the United States, Mr. Joe Biden, together with a number of heads of state, foreign ministers, and high-level delegations. It was held on the margins of the 77th session of the United Nations General Assembly, at UN headquarters in New York City.
Dr. Al Rabeeah stated in his remarks, “Saudi Arabia is one of the top global donors of humanitarian assistance and supporting the health sector represents one of the top aid priorities for the Kingdom.”
"Since the Global Fund to Fight AIDS, Tuberculosis and Malaria was established in 2002” Dr. Al Rabeeah said, “Saudi Arabia has contributed USD 123 million to the fund. As we have witnessed during the COVID-19 pandemic, our alliance is very important for promoting global solidarity.”
Dr. Al Rabeeah stated, “Saudi Arabia is pleased to announce additional support of USD 39 million to the Global Fund over 3 years, affirming our global commitment to achieving the goals of the Global Fund to better save lives and improve the well-being of all.”
The conference aims to raise USD 18 billion for the fund to contribute towards the fight against AIDS, tuberculosis, and malaria, as well as to help strengthen the work of health systems in low- and middle-income countries to help eradicate these public health threats.
