KSrelief MASAM Teams Continue to Deactivate Explosive Devices in Yemen

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: During the 2nd week of
August 2023, MASAM project teams from King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief
Centre (KSrelief) deactivated a total of 1,055 explosive devices, including 112
anti-vehicle mines, 2 antipersonnel mines, 15 improvised explosive device and
926 pieces of unexploded ordnance.
Since the project began in June 2018, expert teams from the
MASAM de-mining program have deactivated more than 410,701 devices planted by
Houthi militias during the ongoing conflict in Yemen. More than one million
land mines, IEDs, and other devices have been deployed by the militias in
populated areas throughout the country, wounding and killing many innocent
civilians. These devices remain a serious threat to the safety and security of
Yemen.
