MA’RIB, YEMEN: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) launched yesterday the next round of training courses to be offered for its “My Skills My Livelihoods 2” project to improve the lives of orphans in the Ma’rib governorate.

The KSrelief team was briefed on the goals, training plans and methodologies being used to implement the courses. They also discussed with the project management team the mechanisms and stages of implementation for the training sessions.

The team also received feedback provided by a number of trainees about the project; they expressed their sincere thanks to KSrelief for providing these courses to help them support their families. The training aims to provide job skills and opportunities to members of beneficiary families to improve their self-sufficiency and help improve their standard of living.

Vocational training subject areas include sewing and embroidery, hairdressing, electrical wiring, pastry-making and baking, mobile phone maintenance, and veterinary, livestock and agriculture education.

“My Skills My Livelihoods 2” is part of an early-recovery project targeting 500 orphans, 60% of whom are part of the country’s displaced population. After completing these courses, trainees are able to establish their own small service businesses or work for established employers to better provide for themselves and their families.
