نجاح فصل التوأم الطفيلي المصري "محمد عبدالرحمن جمعة" بعد عملية جراحية معقدة استغرقت 8 ساعة

The Saudi medical and surgical team from the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins successfully separated the Egyptian conjoined twin "Mohamed Abdulrahman Gomaa" at King Abdullah Specialist Children's Hospital in King Abdulaziz Medical City, National Guard, Riyadh, following a complex surgery that lasted 8 hours and was performed in 6 stages. The procedure involved 26 consultants, specialists, and nursing and technical staff from anesthesia, neurosurgery, pediatric surgery, plastic surgery, and other supporting specialties.

His Excellency Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, Advisor at the Royal Court, Supervisor General the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), and Head of the Medical and Surgical Team, explained that the parasitic twin was successfully separated from Mohamed, as anticipated prior to the operation due to the absence of vital components such as a heart and head, along with congenital defects that hinder life and cannot be corrected. Additionally, there was a lack of kidney and urinary and reproductive system development, along with significant intestinal insufficiency. This information was communicated to the child's parents before the surgery.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah noted that this operation was carried out in response to the generous directives from the wise leadership and is the 63rd procedure under the Saudi Program for Conjoined Twins. Since 1990, the program has provided care for 149 conjoined twin cases from 27 brotherly and friendly countries.

He expressed his profound gratitude to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for their unwavering support of the program. He emphasized that these medical successes represent a bright example of the Kingdom's presence on the international stage as a pioneer in humanitarian and charitable work.

Dr. Al-Rabeeah also thanked the medical and surgical team members for their efforts and the high level of skill displayed, affirming that this achievement reflects the noble humanitarian values upheld by the Saudi leadership and embodies the Kingdom's humanitarian message of aiding those in need and contributing to improving quality of life worldwide, aligning with the objectives of Vision 2030 to develop the health sector and enhance its services.

The family of the conjoined twins expressed their deep gratitude to the wise leadership for their humanitarian care and concern for the health of the Egyptian twins "Mohamed Abdulrahman Gomaa." They appreciated the Kingdom's humanitarian initiatives marked by a spirit of giving and responsibility and expressed their heartfelt thanks for the warm welcome and generous hospitality they experienced since their arrival, praying for the Kingdom and its leadership and people.
