KSrelief Signs Two Agreements with UNICEF to Provide WASH Services and Food Support Earthquake Victims in Syria

RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: King Salman Humanitarian Aid and
Relief Centre (KSrelief) signed two agreements with the United Nations
Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide WASH services and food support to earthquake
victims in Syria; with a total value of SAR 13,125,000.
The agreements were signed between KSrelief’s Assistant
Supervisor General for Operations and Programs, Eng. Ahmed Al Baiz, with the
UNICEF epresentative to the Gulf Area, Eltayeb Adam, at KSrelief headquarters
in Riyadh.
The first agreement aims to provide life-saving emergency
water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) services for earthquake-affected children
and at-risk people in Syria. The services will be provided through access to
improved water supply and rehabilitation of earthquake-affected water networks.
The Project services included, 15,000 individuals will be supported with a
comprehensive WASH package for water trucking; sludge removal; solid waste
management; toilet cleaning and maintenance; and supporting 100,000 individuals
with safe drinking water.
The second agreement aims to provide immediate life-saving
nutritional interventions for at-risk children and earthquake-affected people in
Syrian by improving access to nutrition services. This includes ensuring the availability
of supplies required to manage severe acute malnutrition and micronutrient
supplementation for children, pregnant and lactating women.
The agreements came as part of the relief and humanitarian
efforts provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through KSrelief, providing
vital assistance to earthquake victims in Syria.
