RIYADH, SAUDI ARABIA: Recently, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) held a ceremony at the Crown Plaza Riyadh Hotel RDC honoring its donors and supporters during 2023.

Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Advisor to the Royal Court and Supervisor General of KSrelief, delivered the opening speech in which he confirmed that KSrelief is committed to carrying out the Kingdom's leadership aspirations by continuing to deliver aid to those in need worldwide.

He stressed that the biggest challenge the humanitarian community is facing is the widening humanitarian funding gap, especially in light of current international and regional circumstances and an increased number of requests for relief from crisis-affected countries. He added that it is no secret to everyone that the government's support for the humanitarian aspect, however large it may be, will not meet those appeals.

Dr. Al Rabeeah commended the Kingdom’s national institutions and entrepreneurs who demonstrated partnership and community responsibility through their contributions to providing aid to affected countries including Yemen, Pakistan, Somalia, Syria, and Turkey, along with their support for the National Campaigns for Sudan and Gaza.

Dr. Al Rabeeah also honored the donors, the advertising service providers, volunteers, social media platform influencers, and the ministries and other entities supporting and cooperating with KSrelief.

Advisor to the Royal Court and Member of the Council of Senior Scholars, Sheikh Dr. Saad bin Nasser Al-Shathri, delivered a speech in which he expressed his thanks to King Salman and the Crown Prince for the care and attention they give to supporting needy and vulnerable groups worldwide. He also thanked KSrelief and its staff for their excellent work, and concluded his remarks by encouraging people to contribute to and support KSrelief’s projects and initiatives by making donations through the “Sahem” platform.

Attendees then watched a film, “The Impact of Humanitarian Support”, which explored the center’s humanitarian efforts in affected countries around the world and the importance of collaboration between KSrelief and its donors to provide humanitarian aid. Dr. Al Rabeeah then launched the “Sahem” platform application on X along with the updated Sahem application.

The Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Al Ghowairi Charitable Foundation, Mutlaq bin Damok Al Ghowairi, said that he was honored to speak on behalf of his fellow donors participating in KSrelief projects.

"KSrelief's impact has reached around the world, and it has become one of the leading global humanitarian organizations, with an effective strategy for collecting donations and delivering them to those in need with reliability and transparency," said Al Ghowairi.

Al Ghowairi also highlighted KSrelief's humanitarian assistance provided in various fields including housing, medical, and others, adding that the aid reflects the generous contributions of the Saudi government, its rulers, and its people.

After the speeches were delivered, attendees watched a video entitled "Thanks and Gratitude" in which beneficiaries around the world shared their heartfelt messages of gratitude to the center, the government of Saud Arabia, and its people for the humanitarian and relief assistance provided to them.

The ceremony concluded with Dr. Al Rabeeah signing a joint agreement with Abdullah Al Othaim and Sons Charitable Foundation to allocate a SAR100 million endowment investment portfolio in the name of Sheikh Saleh bin Al Othaim to support KSrelief’s work.

Dr. Al Rabeeah also announced a SAR 10 million donation from Al Ghowairi Charitable Foundation, a SAR 10 million donation from Saleh Al Rajhi Endowments, a SAR 3 million donation from Suleiman Abanmi National Foundation, an SAR 25 million donation from a philanthropist, a SAR 7 million donation from Endowments of Abdullah bin Turki Al Dahyan, a SAR 5 million donation from Salem bin Mahfouz National Foundation, and a SAR 300,000 donation from businessman Abdulaziz Baghlaf.
