The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) launched the “Food Basket” project in Khan Younis to support food security in Gaza. The initiative is part of the Saudi popular campaign to provide relief to the brotherly Palestinian people in Gaza, in the presence of representatives from international and UN organizations, civil society institutions, and media outlets.
Dr. Issam Abu Khalil, Head of the Saudi Center for Culture and Heritage — KSrelief’s implementing partner in Gaza— emphasized that the Food Basket project is not merely a food distribution initiative, but reflects a comprehensive humanitarian message embodying the efforts of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, both leadership and people, to support the Palestinian people during various crises and hardships. He noted that KSrelief has continued its humanitarian assistance to the Gaza Strip since the onset of the humanitarian crisis, under the generous directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, may God protect them.
For her part, the Deputy Director of the United Nations Office for Project Services (UNOPS) in Palestine, Sophie Niyirabakwi, highlighted the importance of this project in strengthening food security for affected families. She praised the Kingdom’s humanitarian role through KSrelief in the Gaza Strip and expressed her appreciation for the continued Saudi humanitarian efforts during this difficult phase. She affirmed that the initiative reflects the values of solidarity and humanitarian partnership, and contributes to supporting community resilience and preserving the dignity of affected families.
This assistance is an extension of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia’s humanitarian role, carried out through its humanitarian arm, KSrelief, to alleviate the suffering of the brotherly Palestinian people and support affected families amid the ongoing humanitarian crisis.
