The King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) launched the “Food Basket” project as part of its 2026 Food Security Support Program in the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.

The launch ceremony was attended by the Ambassador of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Saeed Al-Malki, the Pakistani Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, and officials from Pakistan’s National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), and was held at the premises of the Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in Islamabad.

Ambassador Al-Malki explained that this project comes under the generous directives of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, as an extension of the support provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to its brothers in Pakistan.

He added that KSrelief operates in Pakistan throughout the year through several programs, noting that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has always stood by its brothers around the world, particularly in Pakistan.

The Director of KSrelief’s Pakistan office, Abdullah bin Munahi Al-Buqami, stated that the project will be implemented during the holy month of Ramadan and forms part of the Food Security Support Project implemented by KSrelief in Pakistan. The project consists of 27,500 food baskets containing all essential food items sufficient for each family for an entire month, and is expected to benefit around 192,500 individuals, with distributions taking place across approximately 30 areas in all Pakistani provinces.

For his part, the Minister of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony in Pakistan, Sardar Muhammad Yousaf, expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation, on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan, to the leadership and government of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for their continued humanitarian support to those affected in Pakistan.

He affirmed that the fraternal relations between the two brotherly countries are deeply rooted in history and expressed his appreciation for the role played by KSrelief and its team in Pakistan, praising their ongoing efforts in providing humanitarian assistance to the most vulnerable groups. He stressed that implementing the “Food Basket” project in Pakistan during Ramadan reflects a strong sense of humanitarian responsibility, especially in light of the difficult living conditions facing hundreds of needy families.

This initiative comes within the framework of the relief and humanitarian assistance provided by the Kingdom through KSrelief to support people and countries in need across the world.
