KSrelief Distributes Medical Assistance to Public Hospitals in Yemen

ADEN, YEMEN: Yesterday, King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) distributed 45 tons of medicines, medical supplies and equipment to public hospitals in Aden, Taiz, Ma'rib, Al Jawf, and Seiyun. Dr. Nasser Baaoum, the Yemeni Minister of Public Health and Population, attended the delivery ceremony, along with Saleh Al-Thaibani, Head of KSrelief’s branch office in Aden, and a number of Yemeni officials and members of the media. ​

In a press statement, Dr. Baaoum said, "This medical aid will contribute towards the rehabilitation of public hospitals, and will support efforts to eradicate cholera in Yemen." He then commended the helpful role played by KSrelief in enhancing Yemen’s health sector.

Dr. Baaoum stressed that the aid would be delivered to recipients in selected governorates, and that Ministry of Health would do whatever was necessary to ensure that Yemeni citizens in need would benefit from the aid. 

The head of KSrelief’s branch office in Aden confirmed that the medical aid was received, and that the center’s goal in providing the medical aid was to improve the ability of these hospitals to provide the best possible medical care it their patients. 

KSrelief’s programs to rehabilitate Yemen’s hospitals comes as a part of its overall plan to support the health sector in Yemen by improving the ability of the health care sector to provide excellent service to Yemenis, and also to help combat diseases and epidemics in the country – especially cholera. 

During Ramadan of this year, KSrelief provided 550 tons of medical supplies and medicines for cholera control, and allocated $8 million to fight the epidemic. An additional amount of $66.7 million dollars was donated by Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, to support efforts to combat cholera in Yemen.
