AL MAHRAH, YEMEN: King
Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief) launched the second phase
of its Orphans Sponsorship and Empowerment project in Al Mahrah, Yemen.
The
activities of the second phase of the project included providing school bags to
local students and delivering educational, living, and health support to
sponsor orphans to empower their families economically; these activities
benefited 150 orphans.
The
Secretary-General of Al Mahrah governorate, Salem Nimer, praised KSrelief's
humanitarian and relief efforts in Yemen and stressed the importance of this
project, which empowers families to become productive and to improve their
living conditions.
He
also expressed his thanks to the government of Saudi Arabia, led by KSrelief, for
its humanitarian and relief efforts and development projects, particularly the
implementation of several projects that have served the people of Yemen.
The
project supports orphans in Yemen by economically empowering 440 families
through job opportunities that in turn provide income, living, educational, and
health support.
Empowering
families by supporting orphans will increase their ability to deal with the
economic consequences of losing a family breadwinner and will help encourage
orphans to return to school and complete their education. Thus far, 1,300
orphans have returned to school as a result of this program.
The
project is part of the humanitarian and relief efforts provided by KSrelief,
Saudi Arabia's helping hand to the world, to provide support to orphans
throughout Yemen and improve their living conditions.
