Omar's battle with kidney failure

Details

Omar Khamis (49 years old), the only provider for seven children, recounts the beginning of his suffering with kidney failure eight years ago; he says, “I’ve never had any health issues, I used to go fishing every day and catch plenty of fish. One day, I returned home and went to bed, I woke up to find several parts of my body swollen. I did not care about that at the time and did not do the necessary tests. Unfortunately, toxins accumulated in my body, and after three months, I completely passed out."

Omar’s family rushed him to the hospital in one of the neighboring cities, and doctors found that he had chronic kidney failure.

Omar returned to his governorate and started dialysis sessions in an old clinic. After the opening of the Nephrology center supported by KSrelief, he and the rest of the patients were transferred to it.

He concludes: "Now, my life depends on this machine and without it, I will lose my life. I undergo three dialysis sessions per week to get rid of toxins, and unfortunately, my suffering made me unable to do any job."
