KSrelief Supervisor General: Kingdom Support for Sudan and Neighboring Countries has Exceeded USD 61 Million
PARIS,
FRANCE: During his recent address at the International Humanitarian Conference
for Sudan and Neighboring Countries, organized by France, Germany and the
European Union (EU) in Paris, France, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabeeah, Supervisor
General of King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Centre (KSrelief), confirmed
that the close ties between the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Republic of
Sudan, called on the Kingdom to urgently act to operate relief bridges,
including 13 relief planes and four relief ships, providing humanitarian
assistance and implementing 43 humanitarian projects including, sending out 20
volunteer medical teams to Sudan; KSrelief projects in Sudan and neighboring
countries in partnership with the United Nations, international and local
organizations has exceeded USD 59 million.
On
behalf of the Kingdom, Dr. Al Rabeeah thanked France, Germany, and the EU for
holding this global humanitarian conference, hoping that the conference would
help develop and support the efforts of humanitarian workers and facilitate the
delivery of humanitarian supplies to those affected in Sudan.
"The
Kingdom will not allow turning a blind eye to the crisis in Sudan and its
neighboring countries, as the Kingdom was at the forefront of those calling for
reaching a lasting and comprehensive peace by hosting the Jeddah talks and
supporting the humanitarian efforts in Sudan”. said Dr. Al Rabeeah
He
added, "While playing a pivotal role in facilitating negotiations to
resolve the conflict in Sudan, the Kingdom's leadership provided humanitarian
assistance, worth USD 100 million to Sudan, and also announced a donation
campaign. An additional amount of USD 20 million of humanitarian assistance has
also been added through KSrelief’s 2024
humanitarian response.”
Dr.
Al Rabeeah also announced the implementation of relief and humanitarian
projects in Sudan and neighboring countries worth more than USD 61 million in
coordination with the United Nations, and international and local organizations.
"The
Kingdom continues its quest to reach a sustainable, peaceful solution in Sudan,
and will continue through KSrelief its humanitarian role," concluded Dr.
Al Rabeeah.
