Aqeed’s prosthesis that changed his life

Details

Aqeed Khaled is a 32-year-old married man who lives in Salh District, in Taiz governorate. He works in a large factory that was the only source of income for him and his family

“Life was normal until the conflict in Yemen started, my family and I were constantly moving from one place to another in search of a place to live in and in search of a job until something unexpected happened! I stepped on a mine that exploded and injured my leg. I was rushed to the hospital and doctors decided to amputate my leg. It was the most heartbreaking moment of my life, and my family and friends were very sad too. After that, I stayed at home mostly lying on my bed, not being able to do anything. I was in a state of complete despair until my friend told me about the Prostheses and Rehabilitation Center funded by KSrelief, which provides its services free of charge to all those in need in Yemen. I visited the center and was examined by the specialists, they told me that I need to start physiotherapy sessions in the center and that they will provide me with a prosthesis. They took the measurements and manufactured a custom prosthetic limb for me. I was overjoyed and very excited about the new limb and how I could walk on it

A few days later, the prosthesis was prepared, and I was trained to walk on it for a while

That day, I returned to my normal life

Now I can go out and live my life with ease. This prosthesis made Aqeel very optimistic about his future and made a great impact on him and his family. Aqeed concluded by thanking God and then thanking KSrelief for all the services it provides to the people of Yemen, hoping that this support will continue to benefit all the amputees in need of help
